In this workshop you will learn how to search for scholarly literature in a systematic, reproducible manner. Whether you’re searching for background information at the beginning of a project or are planning to conduct a literature review, this workshop can help.

In this interactive session you will learn the ins and outs of literature searching and apply them to your own research question. The goal of the workshop is to get you started on a search strategy for your current project, while also providing you with tools you can apply to any future literature search. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to get feedback on your search strategy, both during and after the workshop.

This workshop is aimed at PhDs and other researchers in the social sciences. 

We will cover:
-    Translating your research question into a search query
-    Types of literature review (e.g., systematic review, scoping review)
-    Selecting academic databases and other resources to search
-    Using Subject Headings/Mesh terms to enhance your search
-    Building and documenting a reproducible search strategy (structure, search terms, syntax)
-    Incorporating other search techniques into your strategy (citation/reference chaining, journal search)

Preparation: Please come with a research question in mind and choose a few key articles on that address your research question.
