Network analysis with Gephi

Network analysis with Gephi

Users with access to the gROW learning environment (those with a U/E-number) can find more information about workshops and courses offered by the Radboud Digital Competence Centre here. The gROW environment is the official location for these materials, and gROW is preferred to libcal for sign-ups and for exploring our materials. Follow this link to go directly to the gROW page for the current workshop series. Users who are unable to access gROW are welcome to register using libcal. A overview of the currently scheduled digital methods trainings can be found on libcal after filtering by the category "DCC" (linked here for convenience).

Gephi is a versatile and open-source tool for working with network data. You can use it to explore and analyse networks and design attractive and informative network visualisations. Gephi is often used in the humanities, but can be useful in many other disciplines as well. During this workshop, you will be introduced to the basic functionalities of Gephi, such as:

  • Importing and editing data
  • Using lay-out algorithms
  • Customising the appearance of your network graph
  • Filtering your network
  • Calculating statistics and metrics
  • Using temporal information (timeline)

After this workshop, you will be ready to use Gephi for your own studies and research. There will be plenty of opportunity to try out the software yourself.

The workshop will be held in English.
