Literature Review for your PhD: how to search & where to publish (part 1) Online
How to keep track of the relevant scientific literature for your dissertation? The Medical Library offers this 2-session workshop on how to develop a systematic search for a proper overview of the published literature and an optimal basis for e-mail alerts.
In addition, you will learn about the opportunities and pitfalls in selecting a journal for publication and the advantages of a researcher profile.

Prior knowledge: at least PubMed Basics level or intermediate to advanced search skills
- Content: you will be working on your own topic and issues such as
- How to adjust your research question to a search question
- How to select databases and other sources
- How to perform and optimize a systematic literature search
- How to keep track of recent literature and create alerts
- How to select a journal for publication
- What are the advantages of publishing in Open Access
- Which scientific metrics and tools may help increase your visibility as a researcher
- Learning goals: After completion of the course the particpants should be
- able to make a head start with an overview of existing research literature
- more effective in finding literature due to improved search skills
- more efficient in journal selection and in evaluating research impact including Open Access
- Duration: 2 sessions of 1,5 hours.

- As preparation for the workshop we would like you to formulate a research question or PICO and select a number of relevant articles on your topic.
We will be using Zoom (Zoom manual on RU website). If you do not have a Zoom RU account, you can also use Zoom for free.
