Event Studies (e.g. M&A) with Orbis M&A & Refinitiv Workspace
This support session is intended for students Economics and Business Administration who consider performing an event study (e.g. in the field of Mergers & Acquisitions) for their BA or MA thesis.

Based on a simple case of a Mergers & Acquisitions research, you will be introduced to the possibilities of the databases available at this university to perform such a study.
Afterwards, the case-study is used to demonstrate how the 'M&A modules' Zephyr and Refinitiv Workspace work and you will learn to:
- create a dataset of deals;
- assign the variables you need;
- export the data to Excel.
The workshop will end with an introduction of the next step: using the dataset to retrieve additional data from Refinitiv Workspace or Orbis.
This latter subject will be dealt with in more detail in the support sessions 'Financials & equities in Eikon and Compustat: basics' and 'Getting started with Orbis'. It is highly recommended to attend (one of) these session as well!
The workshop will take place on campus in room EOS 01.350 (Elinor Ostrom building). Duration: up to 1 hour. Language spoken: English.
