Workshop Transkribus
Transkribus is an AI-based tool that allows you to automatically transcribe handwritten text from PDFs and images. This makes historical documents searchable and more accessible, and can save you a lot of time. Transkribus comes with many ready-made 'models' for recognising handwriting in different languages, centuries and styles, but it is also possible to train Transkribus to recognise the specific handwriting you are working with. Especially when you train your own models, Transkribus can achieve very good results.
During this workshop, you will learn the basics of Transkribus to get you started:
- Importing and managing documents and collections
- Layout recognition
- Automatic transcription
- Manual transcription
- Model training
- Collaborating and managing users
In addition, you will be given a quick tour through some new and advanced functionalities, such as the recognition of table structures, recognition and tagging of different 'fields' (such as title, paragraph, marginalia, etc.), smart search, and more.
The workshop will be given in English, unless all participants are native Dutch speakers.
