Problems in the publishing world: questionable publishers
“Every upside has a downside”: with the open access movement, predatory publishers arose to get scientists' money without offering a decent publication process. You might think you are able to recognize a questionable publisher. You might think your supervisor knows what journals are okay. You might think Elsevier does not have journals like that. Think again! In this presentation we will show you the nifty ways in which publishers try to make even more money out of your research at the expense of the carefully established academic publication process. We will also give you tips to make sure you will not publish nor attribute to these practices.
This presentation is part of the Library of Science – Bibliobites. Check out our other presentation regarding ‘Problems in the publishing world’ about paper mills and peer review mills on March 26.
The meeting takes place in the Huygens Building: HG00.217 (room in the Library of Science)
