Thesis Data Availability - Office Hour

When you’re just starting out with your thesis it’s often hard to gauge how feasible it’s going to be. That’s why we’re here to help!

Our office hours are specifically for finding out whether the data for your quantitative thesis are available and whether they’re sufficient for you to write your thesis on. Do you already have a well-developed topic and do you want to know if very specific data are available? Great! We, Maarten and Noah, can help you find it. And, if it’s not available, we can help you come up with alternatives. Or, do you still want to explore more broadly and get a solid idea of what types of data are out there before you start crystallizing your research? Also perfect! We’d love to show you and brainstorm for feasible ideas.

Some of our most popular databases include the LSEG Workspace, Orbis and BoardEx which provide an unbelievable amount of company-level (and some macro-level) data, from stock prices and financial details to ESG scores and board details.

You don’t need to register for this office hour. You can just stop by during one of them, or join one of the two online sessions! One important note though; if you’re specifically interested in doing an event study, it’s strongly advised to go to one of Maarten’s office hours, since he’s the event study expert. But, if you’re interested in board details, it’s recommended to go to one of Noah’s office hours, who specializes in this. Below you'll find an overview of when Noah and Maarten host their respective office hours and when the two online sessions are. Room numbers can be found here as well.

See you there!
